Cabin Air Filter (Air Conditioning)

The cabin air filter (Air Conditioning) has the function of retaining impurities in the air (soot, pollen, dust mites, dust), keeping the cabin (internal environment of the vehicle) with clean and pleasant air.

The air in cities or the countryside contains many impurities, such as bacteria, insects, pollen, pollution and dust.

Imagine these external bacteria inside your vehicle?

If the outside air is not filtered, this pollution is breathed in by the occupants of the car and can cause damage to health.

Filter function

The Wega Motors cabin air filter has the function of retaining impurities in the air, keeping the vehicle’s cabin with clean, pleasant air.

Wega Motors offers cabin air filters with activated charcoal. This filter contains three layers of protection, two layers of microfiber filter elements and one layer of activated charcoal.

Activated carbon filters out unpleasant odors. In addition, the filter, in optimum condition, has the function of maintaining the proper functioning of the vehicle’s ventilation system and prevents respiratory diseases.

Cabin air filter maintenance

Without preventive maintenance, the air inside the vehicle can be up to 6 times more polluted than the air outside. Since we spend most of our time inside vehicles, breathing clean air that is properly filtered and free of bacteria means a better quality of life for drivers and passengers.

Usual practices such as blasting or tapping the filter or even washing it in order to clean it and remove accumulated dust are incorrect, harmful and not recommended. Not only does this not clean the filter, it also damages the filter element. Never perform such procedures or reuse the cabin air filter (air conditioning).

At the time of replacement, the used or dirty air filter should be replaced with a new one – we recommend that you dispose of it conscientiously.

Experienced professionals can clean the vehicle’s air ducts together with the new filter.

Benefits of the cabin air filter (air conditioning)

When you replace your cabin air filter (air conditioning) at the right time, passengers and drivers will appreciate it, for it:

Purifies the air inside the vehicle

Retains insects, pollen, dust mites, soot and other pollutants

Prevents respiratory diseases

Keeps the ventilation system working properly.

When to change the cabin air filter (air conditioning)

The cabin air filter should be changed every 6 months or 10,000km.

In severe conditions, such as cities with high levels of pollution, rural areas, mining areas and power stations, dirt roads or burnt-out areas, it is recommended to bring forward the change period and check the filter every 3 months.

Without proper maintenance, the cabin air filter loses its ability to retain impurities in the air. To help you, our customer, we have listed some symptoms that indicate saturation and the need to change the cabin air filter:

– Unpleasant smell inside the vehicle;
– Decreased air flow;
– Poor performance of the ventilation system;
– Air conditioning takes a long time to cool down.

Wega Tip!

While the vehicle’s other filters, such as the oil filter, air filter and fuel filter, have the function of protecting the engine, the cabin air filter (air conditioning) has the function of protecting its occupants.

A little-known fact is that some vehicle models leave the factory without this important component installed – they have the air conditioning installed, but it doesn’t come equipped with the cabin filter. If in doubt, check your vehicle’s manual.
